Williston is a charming Karoo town, situated in the heart of the Northern Cape, with neighbouring towns Calvinia, Sutherland, Fraserburg and Carnarvon. The town was founded as a mission station with the name of Amandelboom in 1845. In 1883 the name was changed to Williston in honour of the British Cape Colonel Secretary, Colonel H Willis.
